Ricky Dobbs
Long Island University Post '22

Ricky Dobbs (He/Him) is a Musical Theatre performer currently based in NYC. He is a Florida native that strives to bring the Florida sunshine into every room he tap dances his way into. He loves to create a fun, safe, and uplifting environment where himself and his peers can let loose and make bold choices in the rehearsal room, upholding his go-to mantra “rehearsal energy never, performance energy always.” 

 

     He received his BFA in Musical Theatre from Long Island University Post in '22. He has trained in styles such as Ballet, Hip hop, Tap, Musical Theater Jazz, African, and Modern. He is also a physically trained actor and became a Suzuki Master under the guidance of Maria Porter and became well versed in the Chekhov and Stanislavsky methods, as well. While at Post, he found a new love for choreography and choreographed Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and The 25th annual Putnam County Spelling bee.

Since graduation, Ricky has been seen performing all over the world. He recently finished touring China with the Paw Patrol Live: Race to the Rescue International Tour as a Ryder u/s and swing. He is also slated to return to China this summer with the Paw Patrol Live: The Great Pirate Adventure International Tour as Ryder. He has spent two summers at Mac-Haydn Theatre in Chatham, NY where he was most notably seen as Mike Costa in A Chorus Line, Thalia in Xanadu, and Bickle in Footloose. He has also spent time aboard Virgin Voyages sailing the Caribbean as The Hype in their Happenings Cast.

 

When Ricky isn't working he can often be found in the kitchen making his own pizza from scratch and then binge watching his favorite action and drama filled tv shows like The Witcher, Game of Thrones, Rupauls Drag Race, Survivor, or any Marvel show. He is also quite taken with aquascaping and can be found dreaming about his next fish tank design.
